"Presentation" vs. "Regular" Omegas?

I'm a newbie to Omega collecting, and I'm treading carefully into this potentially expensive addiction. On eBay and other sites, I've seen several Omega "presentation" watches -- the ones with things like "To John Jones, ACME Inc., Jan. 12, 1957" engraved on the back. Companies in the old days used to give away gold watches to people who retired after a long stay with the company.

In any event, I've noticed that these "presentation" watches seem to have lower selling prices than "regular" Omegas. Does anyone know the reason for this difference? Were the "presentation" Omegas made differently? Is it solely an aesthetic consideration (i.e., some people don't want a watch with someone else's name engraved on the back)? Is there a higher probability that these are fake? Any info would be appreciated.
