First of all, it doesn't mean "perpetual calendar," although a lot of people, for whatever reason, think this to be the case. Certainly Rolex does not intend to mislead. Any authorized retailer will tell you that "perpetual" simply means it is perpetually wound, i.e. the watch winds itself with the movement of your wrist. As for the name Datejust, it doesn't mean it automatically adjusts the date. It means it "just" shows the date, as opposed to showing the date and the day, as in the President model. So the name "Datejust" is certainly not the most original name on the planet, but don't hold your breath waiting for Rolex to change it. Again, there is no intent on the part of Rolex to deceive. Any dealer worth his salt will explain these things to you.
Having said all that, let me tell you that 3 1/2 years ago I bought a two-tone datejust. It's a great watch.       Post Reply
